Regenerative Leadership

What is Regenerative Leadership? A simple example first. In regenerative agriculture you need to build strong and healthy soil conditions and biome in order to build and sustain a successful farm. To do this you must also build and support healthy conditions for those people who work the land, and you must maintain a healthy environment for all the animals that will also contribute to soil health. You nurture all three pillars – individually and collectively all the time. Not sacrificing one for the other due to expediency. Expediency has a short time horizon. Regenerative practices always have a long-term time horizon.

Regenerative Leaders create the conditions for organizations to become more agile, emergent, and attuned to the whole system.

A Regenerative Organization “is one which is able to rapidly sense and respond to the ever-changing business climate by constantly engaging, co-creating, and innovating with its ecosystem of employees, customers, suppliers, resources, investors, society and environment. ” Hutchins, Giles; Storm, Laura. Regenerative Leadership: The DNA of life-affirming 21st century organizations."

Regenerative leadership involves changing beliefs, perspectives and practices, but it is not an abandonment of what works from a more traditional leadership paradigm. It takes from what works and applies it to a more interdisciplinary, interconnected, rapidly evolving and expanded context.

We have redesigned the focus and purpose of our work to support all people to become regenerative leaders inside their respective spheres of influence. It is our belief that all people can “lead from where they are” in their families, organizations, communities, and countries to create thriving conditions for people, while simultaneously building back the very ecological systems that sustain us.
